‘The Place of Learning’

OSL is widely known for its involvement in teaching and theological education. From supporting the East Africa Bible School to train leaders, to discipling and developing Christians and leaders in the UK, our aim is to share knowledge and depth of theological education, to support a deeper relationship with Christ and His word.

We welcome theological articles for review for publication and offer members the opportunity to participate in discussions and teaching seminars with the Bishop and senior team.

Our in-house teaching faculty includes: 

Rt Revd Dr David Carr OBE OSL
Bishop David has been in ministry for nearly 50 years, is honorary Chief Chaplain for University Hospital Birmingham, and former Vice-Chair of Lode Heath Academy. The author of many books on ministry and biblical themes, Bishop David offers teaching on Chaplaincy (via Discipling the Nations) and Leadership Development through OSL Academia.

Revd Canon Chris Bowater OSL
Canon Chris is considered by many to be a father of the modern worship movement. As a singer and songwriter, he came to prominence in the late ’70’s during the Charismatic renewal and his songs have been translated into many languages. He has trained and mentored many generations of worship leaders and co-founded Worship Academy International.

Revd Canon Dave Cooper OSL
Canon Dave has a Master’s Degree in Applied Theology from the University of Chester, graduated from Regent’s College, and holds post-graduate qualifications in psychology and psychotherapy. He has historically taught English, History and Religious Studies in both secondary and adult education, but his passion for teaching is in exploring the depths of scripture and he is currently writing a book on relativistic principles.

Mandy Cooper MSc, BSc (Hons), GradCert, HG.Dip
Mandy graduated in Philosophy and Ethics from Harvard University, where her theological specialty focussed on anagogy, exegesis and the Four Senses of Scripture. She is an expert on Leadership, also holding a Master’s Degree in Organisational Psychology from Birkbeck University of London, as well as a first class honours degree in Psychology, and specialist qualifications and accreditations in psychology and psychotherapy.  She is dual accredited in both Christian and secular therapeutic interventions, has worked with leaders in both church and secular contexts for nearly 30 years, and has written and collaborated on the publication of several books. 

Revd John Maunder OSL
Revd John is the Principal of Discipling the Nations (a charity independent of OSL that provides a range of teaching opportunities, include chaplaincy training). He holds two Masters’ Degrees and is a graduate of Charis Bible College.
